Leeds roads and car parks: pickup details that change the job

Where the car has stopped decides what you should do first and what the operator needs to know.

The M1, M62 or M621 compared with the inner ring road

On the M1, the M62 and the M621, follow National Highways' advice: go left into an emergency area, lay-by or hard shoulder if you can, then once you're safe send the motorway, the direction, the last junction and the marker post number.

The inner ring road is different. The A58(M) and A64(M) run through covered sections near the city centre, and their junctions aren't numbered. If the car stops there, switch on your hazard lights. If you can't get out safely away from traffic, stay in with your seatbelt on and call 999. Once you're safe, name the nearest street or building instead of a junction.

Woodhouse Lane car park and other multi-storeys

The council's multi-storey on Woodhouse Lane in LS2 has a two-metre height restriction. For a car that won't start there, or in any other multi-storey in Leeds, send the car park's name, the level, the height shown at the entrance and a photo of the access point, and say whether the car rolls. A low car or a non-runner can be matched to a low loader, wheel skates or a winch available through the network.

Streets, drives and high winds

On a residential street, say whether the car is at the kerb, on a drive or in a narrow road, and how close a vehicle can get. Leeds City Council says roads around Bridgewater Place may close to traffic in high winds, so if the car is there, follow the closure and tell us the street.
