Cookie Policy

Last updated: February 2026

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember information about your visit — for example, keeping you logged in or remembering your preferences.

We also use local storage — data saved directly in your browser, not sent to any server. It works similarly to cookies but is technically separate. This policy covers both.

What we use

We keep our use of cookies and tracking minimal. We use two categories:

  • Essential cookies — required for the platform to work
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use the site

We do not use advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, or retargeting.

Essential cookies

These cookies are necessary for core functionality. You cannot opt out of them and still use the platform.

  • Session cookies — short-lived cookies that keep your quote confirmation accessible immediately after you submit a request. They expire automatically within minutes and are never used for tracking.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use our site. This helps us improve the experience for everyone. Google Analytics collects:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • How you arrived at the site (e.g. search engine, direct, referral)
  • General location (city level — not your precise address)
  • Device type, browser, and operating system

This data is aggregated and anonymised. Google Analytics cannot identify you personally, and this data is never linked to your quote request or phone number.

Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish unique visitors and maintain session state for reporting purposes. These cookies are set by Google and last up to 2 years. Google's use of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

Local storage

We also use your browser's local storage to improve your experience. This is data stored only on your device — it is never sent to our servers or shared with third parties. We use it for two purposes:

  • Form state— to save your progress through the quote form so you don't lose your details if you navigate away or refresh the page. This is cleared automatically once you submit.
  • Verified access— after you verify your identity to view a job, we store a short-lived token in your browser so you don't need to re-verify on the same device. This expires automatically after a period of inactivity.

Managing your preferences

You can control and delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Here's how for common browsers:

To opt out of Google Analytics specifically, you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Please note: disabling essential cookies will affect how Snap Car Recovery works. For example, your job tracking page may not load correctly after submitting a quote.
